    There are many yeasts.
Bread and beer yeasts are used to produce both ethanol and CO2 gas.
In fermentation yeast makes both. In bread the alcohol is baked out.
In wines yeast changes the sugars to alcohol, sometimes the CO2 is kept in sparkling wine.

Yeasts that cause infections can produce gases such as CO2. they often produce odors.
There are over 20 species of candida that live on our body and can cause vaginal, jock itch, throat{thrush}, UTI and skin infections, diaper rash in babies. Repeated yeast infections should check on an underlying cause that allows the yeast to become dominant.

In sugar water, yeast will eat the sugar and produce ethanol and CO2 gas.
